How iStay@Home works
The iStay@Home system and its mobile App allows you to keep an eye on what’s happening at your older loved ones home.
No cameras! We value privacy so our system uses only motion and magnet sensors plus a smart plug to build the activity report you see in the App (see below).
Your mobile App.
Your iStay@Home mobile App is your way to keep an eye on what’s happening at your loved ones home, it retains their independance and doesn’t require intrusive camera’s.
Motion sensors, magnet sensors and a smart plug provide data to your mobile App. At a glance you can see activity in their home, plus gain useful insights like how well your older loved one is sleeping.
Your mobile App allows also allows you to see parts of their daily routine over time. For example if the duration of time spent showering increases, this can help you to decide if your older loved one may be in need of more assistance.
The iStay@Home mobile App.comes for both Android devices and iPhone. When you have an iStay@Home system installed in your loved ones home you will receive an email with directions for downloading the App. The email will also include a QR Code. This QR code allows you to share the iStay@Home mobile App with other family members or carers.
Motion sensors allow you to know which room your loved one is in and for how long. They can also help you to know how well your loved is sleeping. It’s all there on your mobile App. Motion sensors use an Infra Red sensor to detect movement, they do not have a camera or imaging capability. Motion sensors do have a temperature sensor and send temperature data for the room they are installed in.
Motion Sensors not cameras!
Motion sensors installed in key rooms send data to your mobile app and allow you to gain a sense of what is happening in your loved ones home. Motion sensors also provide valuable insights into your loved ones life. For example it provides information that can show the quality of sleep your loved one is getting at night.
Other sensors can provide clues about your loved ones daily routine, so you can better decide if they need more assistance.
Magnetic sensors
Magnetic sensors record when doors are opened. They can be placed on external doors, the fridge door and even the door of a medication cabinet. These sensors send data to your mobile app. showing the last time the door was opened, the fridge accessed or the medication cabinet opened.
iStay@Home systems come with a smart plug included. The smart plug is placed into a standard power socket and when an simple appliance like a kettle is plugged into the smart plug it can be remotely turned on or off or data accessed. Our system primarily uses the smart plug to access data as to when the kettle was boiled. Additional smart plugs can be connected to heaters or air conditioners and can allow family or carers to turn these on or off remotely.
Smart Plug
Our smart plug turns a simple appliance like an electric kettle into a useful data gathering device. iStay@Home uses a smart plug with the kettle to record each time the kettle is boiled. With this data visible on your mobile App, not only does it show activity in your loved ones home, it provides insight into their routine and will alert you if this routine varies unexpectedly
Most importantly there are alerts and sms messages in the event of unusual activity or an unexpected lack of activity.
The iStay@Home system will help you to help your older loved one remain in their home safely for longer.
