Attention, holders of level 3 or 4 Home Care Packages, depending on individual circumstances and the amount currently budgeted for care by your care provider, you may be eligible to have 100% of the costs of the iStay@Home system paid for by your Home Care Package.

A level 3 or 4 Home Care Package with sufficient unused budget is eligible for a 100% reimbursement for the cost of the iStay@Home system and monthly service fee.

You must discuss eligibility with your Home Care Package Provider prior to purchasing.

about customer directed care

All home care packages are administered by properly registered and approved care provider organizations or companies. However all decisions about the type and frequency of care provided is up to the customer.

This is called customer directed care. It means your care provider must always be responsive to the requests of the person receiving the care under the Home Care Package.

Reviewing your home care package

Often care providers will, at the commencement of a Home Care package schedule services that at a later time the customer may not want or need. An enquiry to the care provider about covering the cost of the iStay@Home system may require or lead to a wider re-assessment of the types and frequency of care being provided under the Home Care Package.

In some instances, it may be necessary to remove some care services currently provided under your Home Care Package in order to make it eligible to cover the costs of the iStay@Home system.

24 hours a day 7 days a week care

When weighing the priority of care services provided vs the iStay@Home system, remember that iStay@Home operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most care services will attend for a maximum of a few hours per day

Info to help your case

To help in making the case for a reimbursement, note the following; The Operational Manual for Home Care Package Consumers 2021 (see right) lists requirements for service or care eligibility.

  1. In this case, iStay@Home is a digital technology that enables remote monitoring and is also a device that helps with communication and personal safety.

  2. The purchaser will own the system outright. The monthly service fee entitles the purchaser to lifetime support and service, so maintenance and repair/replacement (not including malicious damage) is covered under the Monthly Service Fee.
